What is Catholic Spiritual Direction?
Spiritual direction is focused on relationships. Your relationship with God, yourself and those that make up the fabric of your everyday life.
A Spiritual Director understands that the most life changing relationship is the one you have with God. Your desire to develop a richer, more authentic and intimate relationship with a living God is the motivating force behind seeking spiritual direction.
The Catholic Church has consistently recommended the practice of entering into a sacred dialogue with a Spiritual Director to anyone who is serious about living out the fullness of the faith within the living tradition of the church.

Relationship Focused
The spiritual direction conversation is relationship focused. It includes the director, the directee and the Holy Spirit. All your relationships are patterned after this most fundamental relationship, the one you have with God. In Spiritual Direction one begins to discern the voice of The Holy Spirit which guides the sacred discussion to reveal the merciful love of God which has the ability to transform all your relationships.
Discernment Enriched
Everyday we are faced with life choices. The Spiritual Director is an instrument of God who gently guides you with the light of the Holy Spirit to determine which choices are life giving. As a result you gain greater clarity and confidence in the choices you make; if they are bringing you closer to God rather than away. This is the way of discernment.
CONVERSION
Spiritual Direction is about on-going conversion and deepening your relationship with the Almighty. With conversion comes an increase in interior freedom and joy.

When you begin each 55 minute spiritual direction session, the Director will open in prayer and ask the Holy Spirit to be present. The conversation is marked as sacred and therefore confidential. This prayer is between you and God with the director listening in for His movements. You will leave each session to reflect on how the Holy Spirit spoke to your heart.

All sessions are marked by Holy Listening. The Director is not there to give advice, judge or answer all your questions. The empathetic listening director is there to draw you deep into your core where God awaits to heal you.
